Sad Loss

I think there are very few people these days who have not been touched by Cancer.

Sadly this week I lost a courageous friend to Cancer. She was an amazing mother, business woman, wife and friend to many people locally and much, much too young to be struck down so very tragically.

I made the family a little card, to hopefully show how very much I have been thinking of them at this sad time. It isn't much, but hopefully will give them strength to know people are with them in spirit at such a horrible time.

It is my first screen card and it took a tragedy to motivate me to craft after a few days without my crafting mojo.

The sentiment and wording from Love and Sympathy with the single flower image were so appropriate.

Then the sprig of blossom from Hopeful Thoughts, with a hint of colour from the Blendabilities and the Papillon Potpourri butterfly coated in Crystal Effects - just set it off.

Please spare a moment in your prayers in the coming months for the family - their pain is so deep just now!

Gift box contents...

I promised to show you the contents of that gift box from yesterday. There's lots of simple things for you to practice whilst I'm in Holland this week. Only Monday to Friday but I'm really excited!

The first box was made using Pistachio Pudding 12x12 card stock and inside are four single layer cards, a pen and 4 tealight candles.

I used another 2 In-Colours - Strawberry Slush to decorate the cards and the sentiments are stamped using Baked Brown Sugar.

Here is one of the tealights. I used a stamp from the Flower Shop set, punched it out of tissue paper, laid it on the candle and heat set it in the tealight.

Here are the four co-ordinating cards I made to go with them.

The first two cards used Flower Shop and the sentiments were from Million to One.

The third card uses Blooming With Kindness and the final one uses the flower from Love and Sympathy and the sentiment is from Perfectly Penned.

All the cards are simple single layer cards that even a novice stamper can try.

I'll schedule a couple of things for the week - I mean I can't just abandon you... can I?

Lime & Black

I was going to post something else today but it can wait until tomorrow. Why? Well I saw the Less is More challenge to use Lime and Black and couldn't resist!

You can visit the challenge page here.

My card used Lucky Limeade and Basic Black... my last challenge entry lacked any 'space', so I hope this meets the brief a little more accurately!

I used the Love & Sympathy stamp set and the two butterfly punches. I used the technique I mentioned the other day of adhering the two butterflies with Tombow and running them through the Big Shot.

Well back tomorrow - Thank goodness it's the weekend!

Double Challenge Entry

I hope you enjoyed the Pinkies Blog Hops this weekend. We had great fun and I was so impressed with everyones projects.

I have been enjoying challenges so much I am being brave and combining two challenges today!

I have really focused on all the new Spring/Summer products so today I have incorporated a couple of old favourites!

The stamped flower is from the Love and Sympathy set, the sentiment from Petite Pairs.

The DSP is the Natural Composition Speciality Designer Series Paper, cut with the Adorning Accent Edgelit, embossed with the corresponding Adorning Accent embossing folder.

The patterned paper is Comfort Cafe, the ribbon and buttons are Sale-a-bration items. You can get these free with a £45 order! The little pearl is from my stash. It just matched so perfectly!

A little tip for threading your buttons... thread a needle with normal thread, go in and out of the same hole in your button leaving a loop. Thread the end of your ribbon through the loop, pull the cotton taut and pull the loop through and the ribbon will come too!

I hope you like this one - do let me know. I love to get comments!

The first challenge is Dynamic Duos Colour challenge you can visit their blog here - Dynamic Duos

The second is the Mojo Monday Challenge 280 you can visit them here - Mojo Monday

Come back and visit soon!

Marina Misting.

To make this card I started with a Whisper White card, I then used the Labels Collection Framelit and cut out a piece of card to use the aperture to sponge Marina Mist ink. I then cut a smaller Marina Mist label to mat on top so the sponged ink formed a frame. I inked the flower from the Love and Sympathy stamp set using my Stampin Write markers in Marina Mist and Wild Wasabi. I used the Big Shot again to cut out the stamped image with another smaller framelit. Having stuck everything together I used my Stamp a Majig to ensure I lined up the sentiment, which was from the Curly Cute set again in Marina Mist. It was a simple and quick card and I love the effect created by the sponging.
